June Avignone is a writer and editor with rose-colored glasses that fell off in the muck and is now in the process of being reassembled in a new and improved way. Her publications include A Peek Into The Secret Little Ones of Turtle Back Island (Synthetic City Publications); On Going Home Again (Synthetic City Publications); Downtown Paterson (Arcadia Publishing); Cianci Street: A Neighborhood in Transition (Italian Girls Press); Travelling Small Distances (Chantry Press); and A Place Like Paterson (Santa Rosa Publishing). She is currently working on a novel entitled Who's Afraid of William Carlos Williams? A Jersey Tale in Detachable Pieces [a work in progress]. Her recent essays have appeared in The Sun Magazine and the anthology Italian American Writers On New Jersey (Rutgers University Press). She is a former columnist for Fortune Small Business (The Progressive Entrepreneur) and was the editor of the Mill Street Forward, a city-based arts and political newspaper. She lives in Paterson, New Jersey, with her husband, painter Gregory Van Maanen, and her cats, Blackie and Little Girl.
